Now, I don't post often. But when I do post, I would like it to include awesomeness. Luckily, when browsing the web, I noticed a particular piece of awesome - the expandable table. Now, this is no ordinary "put a leaf in it" table. Oh no. It's expandable.

See for yourself.

I wants it.

... to all my peeps who provide me with Chickory coffee fun time. Many days of the stuff, and it's still an enjoyable morning experience. Though I must admit I brew it in my coffee pot now, rather than the fun little cups - the fun little cups left coffee stains on my counter, much as all the /other/ coffee stains on my counter.

I swear, we're going to need to replace our wonderful 30+ year old counter top, and it's going to be entirely due to my coffee habit.

My Zombie Survival Skills are impressive.

Also a tad sociopathic.

But impressive.

So - the Ninjas. They have made another move. Today, I received a package, claimed to be sent by PaperKingdoms. Thing is, it couldn't have come from her. It contained much: a knife, which is an exact replica of that which I asked her to send to me, as I couldn't take it home from a recent wedding. A loaf of Pumpkin-bread, one of my favorite foods. Additionally, an entire block of fudge, meant certainly to distract me from the other contents of the package.

No, this couldn't have come from Ms. Kingdoms - no real human being would have sent so much to some guy who has memory problems, and cannot accurately recall 3 entire months. No, it must be ninjas, sent to poison me with pumpkin bread. In order to test this theory, and for this reason alone, I have consumed nearly half of the loaf within 5 minutes of receipt of this package. Certainly, I will soon feel the sting of their dark poisons, and be certain of the origination of this package. When this moment occurs, I assure you, my revenge on these impostors will be swift, and furious.

Additionally, I will thank PaperKingdoms for a lovely package, as certainly they must have stolen hers in transit, and she has done me a great favor.

Just saying, is all.

At the ripe old age of 19 years, 14 days, Sneakers Ortman, AKA "Fatty McBiteBite", has decided that we mortals are no longer worthy of her presence. She's currently harassing some divine being, in some other realm. Let's hope they brought gloves.

So I got a family tree in my email today, from my aunt, who spent money on this kind of thing.

My paternal line now extends back to 1630, with Johann Peter Linck, born in Gross Rohrheim, Starkenburg, Hessen, Germany. I think that's how to read it, at least. I know the person after him was most definitely born in "Hessen, Germany". Does this make me a Hessian? Are the two even related?

I'm a big dork - we all know this. At the same time, I recall that I went through an entire PhD program without once authoring a paper discussing the marvel universe as a primary focus.

Yet somehow, a team from Los Alamos National Labs gets away with it. Amazing.

With the ice clearing up, and Verizon getting their schedule back on track, the DSL is up and running, and thus, I'm online.

Huzzah!

In a few moments, Q (my Mac) will be going offline, for some days. The move is Tuesday, and I'm not sure when we'll have interwab at the new place.

- See you!

Just a notice to those in the area that Femme's birthday is coming up, and we'll be having a get-together on Feb 17th-18th, at the new place. We'll be very recently moved in, so it should be a good time. If you're interested, get in touch with the good DrMcSP to RSVP, through any number of means.

So, for those of you out there who play World of Warcraft, this post will make sense. To everyone else, this is unabashed whining about a game. Consider yourself aptly warned.

I've played WoW, on and off, for many moons now, and tend to enjoy it. I like repetitive things, and seeing friends online. Hence, while I first started on a "PvE" (Players versus Enemies) server, I enjoyed it, and had fun, but eventually left to another server, to play with friends.

Eric and Jill, both rather high up on a "PvP" (Player versus Player) server, were those friends, and I longed to raid with them. Thing is, I don't have time for raiding, and really just like random casual play. And I really hate getting attacked by other players. It happens all the time. It ruins my fun, ruins random time with [info]gabedun, and more annoyingly, frustrates the hell out of [info]femmetofarad.

Hence, I'm suggesting something. Unless [info]magdelane and [info]gabedun are horribly unwilling, I'm suggesting we up and move to a nice lowpop PvE server. Your thoughts?

We're not that far along with these characters, and honestly, I can grind to 25 in about a weekend, so we're not losing much (unlike Eric and Jill, who have 100's of hours in, and can't easily leave).

Just saying.

Doom!

So the Femme and I are now the proud owners of a mortgage that owns a home. It's remarkably clean inside, which is a good thing, and we've managed to tear up a corner of the carpet, and the floors beneath look to be in fairly good condition, so as of now, resurfacing doesn't seem necessary.

We're still trying to figure out where to put what tasks, as in "Which room will the TV watching occur in?" and "Which room should the cat's box go in?" It's not as easy as it could be, as while we've got rooms, they're not all that huge, meaning location of things matters. Putting the guest bed in the one bedroom, for example, would pretty much block off all access to the closets and cabinets. Not so useful. Hence, we get fun time trying to figure out where to put stuff.

Otherwise, we spent the evening over there with the in-laws, eating pizza and just checking things out. We've discovered the purpose of most of the switches, and have a number of keys that go to things, so it's all working out well.

Overall far less of a 'big event' than one would imagine. Almost non cathartic, in a way. But very good, nonetheless.

A Bulleted List That Includes Both Topics Normally Found In An LJ Post And Also Too Many Capital Letters

  • I had a fabulous time at J&E's New Year's Eve party. Now a wonderful and glorious tradition, I had a really good time seeing some friends I haven't seen in a while.
  • [info]femmetofarad and I are hopefully closing on our house tomorrow, around 4PM. Should only take a few hours, and after that, we'll be like all good Americans - debt laden!
  • Femme's Birthday is coming up in February (the 17th), and we'll be having a party in said new house for her. If you're reading this, you're most likely invited. That's how this 'friends' thing works, I believe.
  • Said new house has (officially) 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. At the same time, with like 1700 livable square feet or some such, we've got a lot of space for people. The current furniture plan doesn't involve us buying that much new furniture, but will result in at least

    • One full-size guest bed
    • The Futon
    • Available floor space in

      • The fireplace room
      • The basement room
      • Other, as yet unnamed, rooms

    • Many of these unnamed rooms can be made cat-proof with only the simple action of "door closing", implying that inflatable beds are a worthy option. Look at all of the high-profile housing we offer!
    • Don't like our bedding? Tell us what you want - we'll buy it! It's only a few bucks for new sheets/blankets/etc, and we're totally trying to bribe friends. It's true.

  • Speaking of friend-need, we'll also be having a summer party of some sort. We're not sure when, but if you comment now, you'll get to have input. I encourage said input, as it means we'll know when to throw our summer party. There will be grilling, and such.
